This walk takes you from The Rings along to Chance Inn where you continue along a footpath to Scotstarvit Tower. Continue by crossing the A916 and walking onto Hill of Tarvit driveway. Follow the paths round to the right walking below the Mansion House and gardens. Near the end of the main front driveway take the signpost to the left for the walking route to Ceres. This is a footpath along the fields which border the Wemysshall Road. Continue along the Wemysshall road on pavements and turn right onto Cupar Road which becomes Main Street, Ceres. Pass the village shops on your right, including SPAR and cross the B939 onto Castlegate where the Fife Folk Museum is located. Before the road winds to the left, there is a footpath which continues straight ahead and will lead you to a foot bridge which crosses Ceres Burn and into Bog Well Car Park. Cross the car park and walk up Woodburn Road. You are now on The Pilgrims Way. You can continue to walk to Kennoway on this path.

Beginning at Denhead Farmyard on the Waterless Way (which forms part of the Pilgrims Way) you will branch off down to Craigrothie. There are no footpaths on the busy B939 which is the roadway connecting Ceres to Craigrothie. To remain on footpaths you will cross the B939 and walk to the bottom of Craigrothie where it crosses the Craigrothie burn and meets the bottom of Old Mill Road (KY15 5PZ). Walk uphill on Old Mill road and turn left onto the pavements of Craigrothie, opposite the former Kingarroch Inn. (Now closed) Continue uphill through Craigrothie eventually onto a footpath at the top of the village opposite the village hall on the southbound side of the A916. This footpath leads to the top of the Chance Inn Brae (Q66), where there is a bus stop. Continue on the Q66 downhill into Chance Inn. At the T junction in the centre of the village, turn left which will take you out of Chance Inn and past various farms until you reach The Rings.

https://www.mapsdirections.info/en/draw-route-google-maps/viewMap.php?route=321567

From Q66 at The Rings, turn right and walk along the road towards what we locally call the Y junction where you join the Q67 (from Little Muirhead) continue to the crossroads. If you were to turn right you would arrive in Cults, but the main A914 road is very busy, so instead go straight over the cross roads (crossing the C30) and turn right onto the footpath to Priestfield Farmyard. Pass the farmyard and continue downhill to Pitlessie. The footpath should bring you out on the opposite side of the road from Pitlessie Inn.
