The Open Championship will be played over the Old Course in St Andrews in 2022. This will be the 150th championship and the 30th time the golf event has been hosted by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

About the Cottage

Our cottage can accommodate groups of up to 16 people for the Open Golf at St Andrews. The wall between the two main living areas can move to make one open plan space if all the golfing fans wish to sit and eat together.

The house can be sub-divided to allow a large group of golfers to have smaller private spaces. All the rooms are on one level with corridors and doors wheel chair accessible.

Within walking distance along a rural pathway is the Kingarrock Hickory golf, located at Hill of Tarvit House; a National Trust property. Experience authentic golfing history on a unique 9 hole golf course using the hickory golf clubs which were the tools of golf in the Edwardian era. Travel to St Andrews Open Golf Championship

Airport transfers and venue transportation to the St Andrews Open Golf Championship is not included but can be arranged for an additional cost.

St Andrews, and the R&A golf course is 20mins drive away, and Edinburgh an hour’s drive. Perthshire and the Angus glens are all within easy reach for day trips.

There is a train station in Cupar and another at Ladybank. There’s more information on public transport on our Planning Your Stay page. You can use this for your arrival or to travel back and forth to the Open Golf Championship in St Andrews.

We are a farm and can offer the possibility of landing a helicopter on our ground near to the Rings if that would be helpful to guests booking to stay for the Open Championship.

The Rings also has a wheel chair accessible car. It can hold a wheelchair user, driver and two further passengers. Should you wish to make use of it, please contact us for more details.

More about the property

The Rings is set in 90 acres of peaceful Fife farmland near the ancient market town of Cupar. It has stunning views and rural walks across the Howe of Fife to the Lomond Hills.

The lounge area offers soft seating for guests to take it easy and put their feet up in front of the large south facing floor to ceiling windows where we hope you will enjoy the panoramic views over rolling Fife countryside. A wall mounted television, with integrated DVD and Netflix; as well as free wifi internet access in all areas of the property; will keep you connected to the outside world as you relax in our peaceful rural location. The two main lounge kitchen dining areas can be opened into one large space or be divided in two. Two of the bedrooms can become self-contained studio apartments.

French doors open out directly onto the decking, which surrounds the cottage and gives a firm flat base to enjoy the fresh air. An overhang has been provided to shelter guests at all times of year. Outdoor power points to charge cars or equipment are also provided.

Local restaurants, cafes and takeaways, including the famous Peat Inn Restaurant which is only 5 miles away.

The accommodation is self-catering and well equipped, so a supermarket delivery could be ordered in advance of your stay. Alternatively, Luvian’s bottle shop in Cupar offers a delicatessen. While Balgove Larder has a wide selection of high quality food and drink.

Accessible features

The whole property is fully wheelchair accessible and was designed and built to meet the needs of those with disabilities. This makes the property inclusive. It does not look clinical, but if you need the special features, they are available.
